{"id":704,"date":"2013-05-06T20:52:11","date_gmt":"2013-05-07T01:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emptynestbirder.com\/?p=704"},"modified":"2020-09-13T12:45:22","modified_gmt":"2020-09-13T17:45:22","slug":"may-snows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emptynestbirder.com\/?p=704","title":{"rendered":"May Snows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">May Snows bring Orioles to oranges and a Green Heron and Solitary Sandpiper to my neighbor\u2019s frog pond.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Our record May snowfall stranded many migrants here in central Iowa.&nbsp; Among the more interesting drop-ins was this <strong>Baltimore Oriole<\/strong> who found our orange in the midst of the snow fall.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/emptynestbirder.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/april-may-2013\/oriole.jpg\" alt=\"oriole\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">The next morning a visit to my neighbor\u2019s pond showed a first-time caller to our neighborhood, a very complacent <strong>Green Heron<\/strong> who found a good source of frogs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/emptynestbirder.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/april-may-2013\/green-heron.jpg\" alt=\"green-heron\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Green Heron was joined at the pond by another first time visitor to our neighborhood, a <strong>Solitary Sandpiper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/emptynestbirder.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/april-may-2013\/sandpiper.jpg\" alt=\"sandpiper\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May Snows bring Orioles to oranges and a Green Heron and Solitary Sandpiper to my neighbor\u2019s frog pond.
